Directing and managing work assignments, staffing and project distribution.

Supporting, training and developing legal professionals in the practice group.

Assisting in the development of standards regarding company contracts in order to provide for consistency of review of contracts by regional legal departments.

Communicating the needs and plans of the practice group to legal management and overseeing the resource allocation process for the practice group.

Overseeing the staff hiring, evaluation and review process for the regional office with the General Counsel.

Directing the practice group’s budget and ensuring that the group operates within budget parameters.

Identifies legal training needs and leads/supports the development of new, enhanced training programs both for legal staff and internal clients.

Review, draft, and negotiate international contracts that are primarily governed by the laws of England or a state in the United States, and provide practical guidance on various international transactions.

Support subsidiaries across ASEAN in corporate law and governance matters including international restructurings.

Manage relationships with outside counsel as approved by General Counsel.

Work closely with global finance and tax departments and outside tax advisors.

Support commercial litigation in ASEAN as necessary.

Job Requirements

-LL.B. in law.

-Enrollment with the Bar Council of India.

-Undergraduate degree in Business or Technology preferred.

-Excellent academic credentials.

-Minimum of 10 years experience practicing law.

-Fluent in English (reading, writing, legal drafting, comprehending spoken English and speaking).

-Prior in-house experience in a multi-national corporation headquartered in the US or England required, with hands-on experience working on various contracts governed by US or English laws.

-Prior experience in the semiconductor industry, other high technology industry, or manufacturing company preferred.

-Effective at legal counselling at all levels of an organization.

-Ability to build trust, persuade and effectively coach at all levels.

-Unquestioned integrity and business ethics.

-Ability to work independently without supervision.

-Ability to provide good professional guidance and advice in matters of commercial agreements, and business and legal practice.

-Ability to effectively present and communicate information to top management and groups of associates.

-Demonstrated business acumen and sound judgment.

-Process oriented: ability to identify root causes of business processes interfacing with Legal and proactively offering preventative solutions.

-Effective time management and organizational skills.

-Experience drafting and negotiating international commercial contracts in English required.

Ability to prepare clear, comprehensive draft language – frequently based on incomplete outlines or concepts received from business owners.

-Ability to convey complex legal issues in clear and concise business terms.

-Attention to detail and follow-through is a must.

-Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and internet) required.

Some domestic and international travel to the US and Asia may be needed from time to time
